Zechariah’s song is known as the Benedictus which means ‘praise be’
A horn is a symbol of strength and power; symbolizing the power of the Messiah to save.
Zechariah speaks prophetically to his son as one who prepares the way for the Messiah.
Those living in the darkness are people separated from God – wandering and lost.
John’s public ministry began when he was around 30 years old.
John’s parents were old when he was born and likely died while he was young. Luke indicates he grew up in the Desert of Judea until his public ministry began.
